West Virginia calls its official service Victim Information and Notification Everyday, or VINE. Its Lewis County value comes from the regional-jail system. Adults arrested on local matters may be booked at Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, a WVDCR institution in Braxton County, instead of a county-owned jail. West Virginia expanded VINE to all ten regional jails and its prisons, so the same notification layer can receive records for both populations.
VINE has two distinct functions. A status search reports what the supplying agency currently sends for one person. Registration asks the system to notify the user after a qualifying custody event is reported. Search Lewis County VINELink Records
Begin with the live interface, not a broad web search. A careful match matters because two people can share a name. Keep the DCR offender number, date of birth, or other official identifier available when possible. Someone detained at Central Regional Jail belongs to the West Virginia regional-jail path. A sentenced WVDCR prisoner also uses West Virginia VINE, but the prison population and jail population represent different custody settings.

- Enter the exact name or offender number. If several records appear, compare date of birth, age, reported facility, or other displayed demographics.
- Open the correct record and copy the status, agency or location, offender identifier, event label, and any date exactly as displayed.

Lewis County VINELink Release Fields
West Virginia operational material identifies a range of searchable or returned fields, but the live screen controls. A field may be omitted, renamed, or shown only for certain records. Do not promise that every Lewis County record contains a release date or parole-hearing date. Transcribe only what appears for the correct person.

Event labels also need care. General release, court-ordered release, parole release, work release, home detention or electronic monitoring, transfer, escape, return from escape, death, and scheduled sentence expiration have different meanings. A transfer ends custody at one site but continues it elsewhere. Parole ends institutional confinement and begins supervision. A scheduled expiration is not the same as a completed event.

Register Lewis County Release Alerts
After the correct record is open, choose the current notification option. West Virginia documentation supports telephone, email, text, TTY, and mobile-app channels, though the choices presented for a particular record can vary. Registration is tied to the selected person and qualifying agency events. It is not a request for the full DCR offender file.

Lewis County VINE Alert PIN
West Virginia's documented telephone workflow uses a self-selected four-digit PIN. When an automated call reads the event notice, entering that PIN acknowledges receipt and stops repeat calls. The PIN is not the person's DCR offender number, booking number, or a general account password. Do not share it as an identifier.
The source describing the PIN is an older West Virginia VINE operational record. Follow the current telephone prompts if their wording differs. The function remains important: the acknowledgment tells the notification system that the message reached its registrant, rather than proving any additional fact about the release.
Lewis County Mobile Release Notices
No verified Lewis County Sheriff inmate-release app or WVDCR completed-release app was found. The statewide VINE mobile layer is the documented notification option. WVDCR's annual reporting identifies phone, email, TTY, SMS, and VINE-app registration. That makes mobile access useful in a county served through a state-operated regional jail.
Do not confuse a communications or video-visitation app with the official custody-notification system. An app used for calls or visits does not become a release roster, and a push message does not become the official release sheet. Use VINE for the supported event notice and WVDCR or the court for documentary proof.
Ten Regional Jails Feed VINE
The statewide scope is a distinctive Lewis County fact. The West Virginia expansion announcement says all ten regional jails were brought into VINE, with enhanced features also applied to correctional facilities. Central Regional Jail's participation follows that systemwide model rather than a separate county feed.
This coverage helps when a Lewis County case leads to regional-jail custody and later to DCR prison custody. Still, select and interpret the right record. A regional-jail detainee and a sentenced state prisoner do not have the same custody path. The common VINE layer can report both, but the underlying releasing agency and source record determine what the event means.

Lewis County Release Alert Timing
A transfer event deserves its own check. WVDCR explains that VINE does not call while a person is being moved between facilities. Notice follows arrival at the receiving institution because of officer-safety concerns. During that interval, an older location may no longer describe the current trip, while the next location may not yet be ready for public confirmation. Silence from the alert system cannot fill that gap.
Write down the last confirmed facility, the time of the most recent search, and any event label already received. Then wait for the receiving-facility update or contact WVDCR through the correct channel. If the Lewis County court record shows a prison commitment, move from the jail search to the prison search. If another jurisdiction lodged a detainer, the person may leave Central Regional Jail without entering the community.
A release alert also can reach the user after the agency completes its own reporting steps. Treat notification time and release time as separate facts. The DCR release entry is the source to request for the actual custody-departure timestamp, while the court order supplies the legal authority behind it.
Lewis County Written Release Notice
West Virginia adds a written-notice layer beyond automated VINE registration. The official DCR page cites West Virginia Code §62-12-23d and directs release or parole-hearing notice requests to both WVDCR and the West Virginia Parole Board in writing. Those are separate bodies with different roles.
WVDCR states that a written request submitted to DCR automatically registers the requester in VINE. A DCR request alone should not be assumed to protect every Parole Board hearing-notice route. Send the required written notice to each body when both release and parole-hearing notice matter, and check current official contact details before mailing time-sensitive material.
Note: Written DCR notice and Parole Board hearing notice are separate routes, even when both concern the same person.
Confirm Lewis County VINELink Releases
VINE depends on agency data, so timing and event type matter. DCR does not call while a person is being moved between facilities. Transfer notice follows arrival at the receiving facility. Spelling, identity details, data-feed timing, movement, or limits on historical visibility can also affect search results. A missing record or missing alert is not proof of release.
For a Central Regional Jail departure, contact the facility at 304-765-7904 and seek the DCR custody record when the exact date or release type matters. The court docket may show bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, commitment, or another legal event. For a state-prison release, use the prison search and the applicable DCR or parole record. VINELink does not cover federal BOP custody. Use the Bureau of Prisons locator for a sentenced federal prisoner, and read “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” narrowly because another authority may still hold or supervise the person. ICE and U.S. Marshals custody also have separate federal routes. Do not use a federal search as a substitute for the West Virginia regional-jail check.
Lewis County Registry Limits
The West Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry is a narrow post-release source for a person who has a legal duty to register. It is not a general list of Lewis County released inmates.
